Hydrotherapy Sessions

The Bracknell Branch provides funding to subsidise a weekly hydrotherapy session for Bracknell Branch members. The session is run by two neurological physiotherapists from Thorpes Neuro Rehab who are experienced in working with people with Parkinson’s. Each session includes a warm up, targeted Parkinson’s specific exercises, dual tasking challenges with games and the opportunity to walk or swim in the water and a cool down.  The focus of the exercises changes every month and uses a combination of floats, pugil sticks and dumbbells to take advantage of the buoyancy and resistance that the water offers. The ratio of therapists to clients does allow for some one-to-one input as needed each week but, should you feel you would want a family or carer to attend with you in the pool, this can be accommodated into the class.

When

Sessions available every Tuesday from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

Where

Bracknell Sports Centre, Bagshot Road, Bracknell RG12 9SE

Accessibility

There is disabled parking, lifts, and mixed sex family changing rooms at the pool which offer more space. The access to the pool is via staggered steps with two handrails; see photograph below. You can also bring any walking aids to the poolside. Should you need any help to dress and undress, then we advise your carer to assist you in the family changing rooms.

What to bring

Swimwear and towel. Pool side shoes if you desire. Please bring water and food for after the session to help rehydrate and provide energy.

Cost

The cost of the session is £28 per month, payable in advance by bank transfer to the Branch’s bank account.
