Forty-four members of Bracknell & District Parkinson’s Branch recently enjoyed a relaxing afternoon’s excursion on the Mid-Hants Steam Railway – The Watercress Line.
The heritage diesel train departed from Alresford station, calling at Ropley, Medstead and Four Marks, before briefly stopping at Alton, and then returning to Alresford. The passengers would usually make the journey by steam train but diesel had to be used owing to the fire risk posed by steam in this extremely hot and dry weather.
While on board, the members enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea which included a selection of sandwiches, quiches, sausage rolls, cakes, scones, jam and cream, as well as a plentiful supply of tea and coffee.
Everyone enjoyed the delightful ride through the heart of the beautiful Hampshire countryside, and thanks must go to Keith for organising the trip, to Mel for generously funding the afternoon tea and to the volunteers at The Watercress Line for making the event such a success.
