We have heard of two interesting innovations being tried out by members of our branch.
The first is a non-invasive wearable device called Cue which one of our members has found has helped his movement and reduced stiffness. Further details are available at https://charconeurotech.com/ where you can register an interest for further details.
Another member has advised us of a therapeutic ‘suit’ which she is trialling which has provided some relief from her Parkinson’s, and also her from related condition of spasticity. The suit is called a Mollii Suit and is available from various distributors. The member who is trialling it had her assessment with Remotion and is now using it for a month to see if it is suitable for her, and so she thought it worthwhile to share with other members. Further details are available at the Remotion website at https://www.remotion.co.uk/
This information is provided for your interest, the branch makes no endorsement of either of these products.
Recently the Oxford Branch of Parkinson’s UK hosted an online talk by two authors of a book entitled Ending Parkinson’s Disease.
Some of our members attended and commented on how interesting they had found it.
Oxford Branch are keen for the wider Parkinson’s community to hear about it and so have placed a copy of the whole recording (c. 1 hour) and also an edited highlights of c. 20 minutes on their website as follows for other people to view:
