Longacres Collection

Longacres Collection

The Branch had a successful collection at Longacres Garden Centre, in Bagshot, on Saturday 10th May. We raised the impressive sum of £365 as well as raising much awareness of the work of our Branch and Parkinson’s UK and dealing with many enquiries from interested parties.

Fund-raising activities such as this enable us to subsidise the services we provide for our members and also to support the aims of Parkinson’s UK.

Our thanks to everyone who generously donated money to us and also thanks to the Branch members who were involved during the day.

Bracknell & District Parkinson’s Branch recently enjoyed another fun activity as part of their Christmas festivities when they held their annual Christmas party. The event was very popular with over 40 members and their partners attending the festive gathering.

Bimbi, from Berkshire Music Trust, and who runs the Branch’s fortnightly Singing Café sessions, provided the musical entertainment with some carol singing with festive favourites, such as ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’, ‘Mistletoe and Wine’ and, of course, ‘Jingle Bells’.

The evening concluded with a raffle comprising ten great prizes and which raised an impressive £225 for the Branch. Thanks must go to Wendy for arranging all the raffle prizes and for presenting them so attractively.

Light refreshments and mince pies were also served during the evening.  Thanks must again go to Wendy for organising the food and also to her team of helpers who assisted on the night.

Bracknell & District Parkinson’s Branch recently enjoyed a delicious festive Christmas lunch at The Oakingham Belle, Wokingham.

The annual Christmas lunch was attended by over forty members, carers and several service providers.  A very big thanks must go to Wendy for making all of the arrangements, and to the efficient and professional team at The Oakingham Belle who made the meal so enjoyable.

Members of Bracknell & District Parkinson’s Branch recently enjoyed visiting the bustling Winchester Christmas Market, which is situated in the historic grounds of Winchester Cathedral.  Inspired by the German Christmas Markets, the pretty wooden chalets offered a variety of high-quality shopping opportunities.

Members were also able to spend further time at leisure in the historic city and enjoy other attractions or start some Christmas shopping in its wide range of boutique shops and independent stores.

Thanks must go to Keith and Kathy for organising the trip, and to Mel for funding the coach through her zipwire challenge last year.
